Tonight, Thursday, August 14 at 6 PM at the Palmer Lake Town Hall, the Board of Trustees is poised to reinforce its disregard and disrespect for the Town’s Master Plan. The Master Plan is a well-crafted document, filled with facts and data-supported recommendations and, most importantly, the people’s voices, yet the Board of Trustees is preparing tonight to throw it in the garbage in favor of big development.

If you can make it to the meeting tonight, please do. If you can’t, please use the town’s web site to email the trustees to tell them NOT to adopt the language of the proposed Town code change (17-1-80). This language says “Where a development proposal could be in substantial conflict with the Community Master Plan or other plan, an amendment to the Community Master Plan or other plan shall be required prior to any zoning or subdivision approvals, unless the Board of Trustees adopts a resolution making specific findings that such amendment is not required.” In other words, the trustees have only to pass a simple resolution to trash the Master Plan when a proposed development conflicts with it.

It’s moves like this — buried deep in a packet of meeting materials that are only made available to the public 24 hours in advance of the meeting — that makes people mistrust most of the current Board of Trustees. Palmer Lake residents, if you are tired of these shenanigans, please vote in the September 9 special election to recall Trustees Dreher and Ball and vote in either myself, Roger Moseley, or John Marble.
